I'm feeling numb to mass shootings in the US, anyone feel the same way?
Apparently, another shooting has occurred in Maine. As of the last update I saw, 22 dead, 50-60 injured, shooter still out and about.
What's scaring me is that I don't feel empathy reading this news, unlike during Virginia tech, Sandy Hook, Orlando night club, Robb Elementary, etc. During the Robb elementary shooting, I couldn't stop crying, lost appetite and couldn't sleep for a few days.
I know I'm supposed to feel sadness right now, but I don't. At most I can say I'm annoyed another mass shooting is happening. Instead, I can't stop wondering what I should make for dinner tomorrow, or if I want to go hiking in the weekend.
Anyone else feeling like this? I understand this doesn't fit this sub's theme very well, but I really want to know from others in this cohort.
