Unpopular (appriciation) for the game.

I see many people in this sub that dislike the calendar mechanic in the game and the lack of mp items you can acquire in each month frustrating.

But for me the main appeal of Metaphor supprisingly was that time/ resource management. It was fun to plan ahead of time what I was going to each day, and level up archtypes depending on my currents needs. Limiting the resources and time made me feel that I couldn't just cheese the bosses by leveling up my characters and forced me to actually strategize and think how I should use my items and time. I finished the game on hard and found the difficulty to be pretty balanced overall. This was my first Atlus game.

For people who like this type of game design which involves resource management with limited amount of items in each play trough, I recommend you to check out "Fear & Hunger" and "Fear & Hunger Termina". They are JRPG's with tactical combat with dark fantasy and horror elements. Both of the games have incredible lore, story and art design. In both game you will be forced to manage your resources and time, because, while you are exploring the areas in the game, you need to find food to your characters unless you want them to starve. There is also sanity meter in the game, (which you works as your mp pool as well), which is constantly depleting as the time goes, and if it reaches zero, your characters develope new fears to monsters. Your characters can also lose limbs (including their legs and eyes), but this applied to the the enemies in the game as well. There is also a perma death mechanic in the game. Both games are solely made by one guy with rpg-maker, but the way the developer used that engine is incredible. Although it's good to note it doesn't have the same amount of polish as a triple A tittle because of it. This is also a very different type of game tonally from atlus games, as the are one of the best horror games I have ever played. For some people this can be incredibly off putting because, the horror in this game is incredibly grotesgue, but aside that I really recommend you give it a go.

Anyway, if you have any recommendations for me, please feel free to comment below.
