Being grateful

I was just thinking about that character Alec Baldwin plays on 'Friends'. His name is Parker and he is grateful for every little thing in life. The friends group is rather annoyed with it and it becomes the center of satire for that episode. I was wondering though, how many of you feel that in real life, a person like Parker would indeed be much happier and living a better life than any of those friends characters. Do you think someone like him in real life would be too delusional, naiive and detail obsessed, to live in the world or would it actually improve the quality of his life?
