Will I actually like the Dune movies?

Dune and Dune 2 have been sitting in my watchlist and I never have any desire to watch them. I do like a lot of sci-fi movies, but tend to prefer the 80s type of style that was heavier on comedy and fast paced action with cool practical effects. I don't much care for long, overly dramatic sci-fi movies (I hated Interstellar, for one) and I don't know anything about the Dune books or story. I don't really care one way or the other for Zendaya or Timothee Chalamet either, I'm just not familiar with either of them.

On the other hand, I've heard the movies are great. I really like Denis Villeneuve, and Prisoners is one of my favorites. Everyone whose seen them seems to have loved them. I've been curious enough to have these movies on my radar, I just can't bring myself to ever watch them. Should I just go ahead and watch the first one tonight?
