Feeling Defeated
Had finally gotten a position as a Law Clerk at a small firm (2 attorneys 2 paralegals) this past Saturday, started Monday. Friday morning when I get in at 9, hiring attorney tells me they’re letting me go because at the time they hired me, they thought they had room for a clerk, but now realize they need someone who can go out and handle solo negotiations, closings, deals, etc. I did everything they asked of me, and I never once lied about what I can do, so they knew I was a 2L looking to gain experience. The attorney even emphasized that it was nothing I did, and that I was perfect. It just sucks because this was also meant to be full time summer and part time Fall, so I had a nice sense of security. I’m obviously gonna hit the apps again, but goddamn for 1 week, I was really glad to have been working
UPDATE 1: So just in case anyone is keeping up with the post, I took everyone’s advice and emailed my career advisor on Saturday explaining the situation, and I should hopefully reply tomorrow the 5th, as the school has been closed for the weekend of the 4th. I also sent an email to the attorney basically as a confirmation of everything, including a recap of the discussion of payment, which he replied back with a confirmation
