The "everything is political" crowd is now mad at the director of Terrifier this time

Damien Leone, the director of Terrifier, made a tweet in response to some members of his film crew getting political outside the films. He defended their right to voice their opinion but stated Terrifier is just a movie franchise about a killer clown.

As most of you know, some of my cast and crew members have a very passionate political presence on social media [...] That being said, Terrifier is NOT in any way shape or form a political franchise. I did not get into filmmaking to become a politician or promote any political agendas or ideologies, especially through a killer clown movie.

The usual suspects got upset, as you can see in the replies to his tweet. They used the same arguments as always that horror and movies are "inherently political", and called the director out for wrongspeak. Forbes also made an article about it, claiming Leone is wrong and horror has always been political too.

While initially it just explains what Leone and the side going against him said, the article sides with the "everything is politics" crowd in the end.

Horror fans are correct, as the genre is all about examining terror and anxiety, [...] The Terrifier films feature an excessively violent man dressed as a clown whose most horrendous acts are often inflicted on female characters. Are Leone’s films really “pure entertainment,” or are they commentaries on misogynistic violence?

It also claims even simple slasher films often have political undertones, but doesn't bring any example and instead only points out Night of the Living Dead and Jordan Peele films. Just another example of journalism with an agenda. But remember, apparently it's you who brings politics into everything, not them.
