Does anyone else feel that KH 3 endgame was kinda lackluster?
Hear me out, i'm not outright saying that the story is bad. I'm just saying it could've been so much better.
Story wise, it felt way too rushed. The entire climax and final arc did. It just felt like it was thrown together haphazardly at the last second. Oh, look, we are in the final world, so let's just throw out all the 13 bosses in groups and add in a half hearted 1000 heartless fight to make things more dramatic. Worse yet, i feel like almost none of the other keyblade wielders other than Roxas, Sora and Riku contributed much to the fight or story. Most of the keyblade wielders got taken out in the 1000 heartless fight, like what? Aqua survived ALONE in the Dark Depths for 10 YEARS and she couldn't last a minute with the shadow tower? (You could argue it was because of Ven getting knocked out but i will say if that's the case she would have fought even harder to protect him, that's legit how she acted in Birth By Sleep, facing off Ven Vanitas and Terra Xehanort even when she knew it would affect their real selves). The group fights were fine but again it felt like there was no story there. It's just a small cutscenes that happens if you beat them. If that was the case, why not have Sora fight them in the Disney Worlds? (I know the reason is to create the X blade, but it takes out a lot of potential story and development for many of the Org 13 members.). And let's not even mention the complete wasted potential of the keyblade wielders interacting with one another. Most if not all of them had interacted at least once before in the series, and the complete lack of anyone even interacting is not possible. I would have even accepted small snippets of cutscenes in between the battles or some of them talking to each other while Sora was fighting Xehanort to just flesh out the characters instead of letting them simply be devoid of any interactions.
Game wise, every other world was fleshed out to have a big world to explore, Caribbean and San Fransokyo were even made into semi open worlds so why is Keyblade Graveyard so linear and small? Don't even get me started on Scala Ad Caelum which had 10 seconds of exploration before throwing you into a boss fight. Even after adding in ReMind DLC and making Scala Ad Caelum explorable, it was still lackluster. The entire world felt empty, and it was like an unfinished demo.
With all that said, there were some great moments like Roxas returning or the triple Nort fight, i just think they could've done much more to make it more interesting. What do you guys think?
