Am I being overly sensitive?

One of my trans friends told me I can’t understand how hard she has it because there are people who want to kill her just for being who she is. I may have given her the death stare when I reminded her “You know I’m a Jew, right?” She didn’t respond and we changed the subject, but I’m a little offended. Am I in the wrong?
