Buy new tires.

I recently finally bit the bullet, and purchased the Continental DWS06+’s for my 2020 Jetta GLI, and it really does feel like a new car.

The decision was made after a recent trip through light - moderate rain on the highway, and hydroplaned at least 15 times. The stock Shitergys GT’s are just that, shit. I genuinely felt like a liability driving this car in the rain, just choosing the slide whenever. Breaking distance was horrible. 0-60, even in the dry, was wheel spin for a good 2-3 seconds before hooking up. (To be fair, they did have all 40k miles off the car on them, so that did

Now, I really can’t even tell the roads are wet when driving in the rain. Tire noise on the highway is almost completely unnoticeable, it’s completely overtaken by the wind noise. 0-60 hooks up instantly, handling feels way more confidence inspiring. It’s truly a new car feeling.

The only thing potential negative is I suspect I get worse gas mileage on these. The car seems to slow much quicker now when off throttle and no break, I could coast almost forever previously. Anyone else have a similar experience?
