Showing some love for Octopath Traveller 2
I played the game a little over a year ago and even though it slips my mind most of the time but whenever I listen to it's OST, I'm immediately brought back to the time I played it, it's like a wave of nostalgia and enjoyment rushes back to me all together.
The game was honestly a pure rush from start to finish.
8 characters, 8 stories. Each of the stories may not be long, but DAMN were they good. Be it a swordsman who wishes to liberate his kingdom, or a thief trying to win back her freedom. All the stories were damn engaging and really sucks you into the plot. Of course, not all of them were 100% gems but they do their job to keep your interest piqued, which is more than i can say about some JRPGs who were more than 40 hours long but has a mediocre storytelling
Next we have the combat, and mmmm is it satisfying to play through. You know how in JRPGs, theres always 1 or 2 party members not great to use or downright bad? Well OT 2 doesn't have this problem.
Every character is unique and great to use, each with their own strengths that you can easily use to incorporate into any playstyles you want without sacrificing damage or heals. Each character covers at least 2 jobs (attack, heal, buff, debuff) well enough so you won't have any problems of missing out no matter what team you use. Experiencing all the different playstyles with different team compositions is heck of a hell enjoyable and keeps the game from getting stale.
Even the soundtrack is awesome! Granted, many JRPGs have awesome soundtrack (it's just a tradition by now) but Octopath's soundtrack really sticks with me, especially the character themes. The theme songs really highlights each character's personality superbly well. Ochette's theme is upbeat and has a wild vibe, a theme fitting for the dwellers of the forest. Castti's theme is really slow and sad, yet in some way soothing which really speaks to her as healer on a journey to restore her memories etc.
Not to mention, EACH CHARACTER'S THEME IS REFLECTED IN THEIR RESPECTIVE FINAL BOSS FIGHTS! I can't tell you how hyped I was when I was fighting their bosses and their themes started playing.
I could go on and on about this game and how great it is but I'll leave it up to here for anyone who has not played it and leave it to you to discover yourself how great of a game this is.
