Ioniq5N - lack of power
Dear Ladies and Gentlemen,
I drive the Ioniq5n since a few weeks and now in the colder months, during overtaking other cars, I noticed a very serious lack of power, at first I thought this might be caused by the electronics to reduce wheelspin, but after turning all the safety features off, the problem remained.
Therefore I went to the battery menu, where I can see the energy consumption in real time, and did a bit of testing, with N-Mode, Engine and differential at the max. levels.
The testing procedure was as follows - 50-60 km/h, pedal to the metal till the energy consumption of the engine is not increasing anymore.
I figured out the following things at my specific car:
- power consumption of both engines drops below 160kW under 20% and at 5° battery temp without any warning on the display, acceleration reminds me of my Nissan Navara, its maybe even worse then.
- With 100% SOC and 0°C battery temperature the engines only consumes 330kW, acceleration especially at higher speeds is greatly reduced.
- The loss of horsepower happens basically always when the SOC is getting a bit lower or when the battery temperature is below 30-35°C.
- the advertised 641 bhp are only reached close to 40°C battery temperature, this temperature can not be reached with "normal" conditioning, the engine has to be running and N-battery drag has to be on for like 30 minutes with the keys in the car. It cannot be started with the phone like the normal conditioning.
- N-grin boost doesn't works most of the time, below 30°C battery temperature seems to be a problem, the display shows that the boost is working, not the slightest increase in acceleration is felt and the energy consumption stays identical.
The main reason I bought this car is its advertised track performance and the power, and the car is far away from that. While the suspension, the brakes and the steering are perfect, the engines power is a joke most of the times.
It is also dangerous in my opinion, because it is hard to estimate the duration of any overtaking procedures with the consistent change of power.
The dealer did not provide any informations regarding those subjects beforehand and still can't tell me if this is "normal" or if the car is broken.
Do you have similar experiences ? How is your 5N performing in colder conditions and/or when the SOC is low ?
