What are the laws around disclosure of a previous recent survey?

Hi all,

My husband and I had to sadly pull out of a house purchase a couple weeks ago that seemed perfect due to possible subsidence that the survey picked up. To confirm this, we hired a structural engineer. They highlighted further problems, whilst saying it would take 12-24 months of monitoring before definitively saying how structurally sound the house is. There were other issues highlighted like “floating floors” on the first story. We were devastated as it’s impacted our life plans but also understand that this happens and life goes on.

I’m frustrated as they’ve put the house back on the market and there is no mention of these issues on the advert. My frustration stems from two things:

1) they’re wasting other people’s time and money who will likely get as far as we did but then figure out that the structure is not sound.

2) how do we know that this exact scenario won’t happen to us again?!

Surely this is not legal? I’m wondering if there’s anywhere I can report this? Are estate agents obligated to disclose this information on the advert?

Thanks all very much for your help - hopefully the next house is the one.
