Help Setting Up Home Ethernet
I recently moved into a new home and there are 5 Ethernet wall ports throughout the house. They all go down to the basement and terminate there. They are bunched together dangling with just cord (no tabs or wiring into a panel)
I have an Xfinity Xfi Router in the office that’s connected to the ISP via a coaxial cable. I have an Ethernet cable from the Xfi router to the wall Ethernet port.
In the basement, I added Ethernet crimps to the end of the five lines and wired them all into this switch.
My thinking was that if I had a switch in the basement then every port in the house could connect to the XFI modem and be hard wired.
However, In the second room I connected a cable to the Ethernet port and I cant get the internet. Can someone help me understand this better and what I can do to get it working?
I have included a diagram of what I was thinking. Apologies for the layout, I’m on mobile.
