What if USA followed in WW2 strategy suggested by Truman?

I.e. do not intervene in German-Soviet war, since both were obvious enemies. No lend lease. Let them bleed each other to death in attrition war. Then finish off crippled victor (who is exhausted and faces heavy guerilla) with nukes, bombings and D-Day.
