The differance between hsv1 and hsv2??

Hey there!

My ex transmitted a hsv virus to my genitals a couple of months ago. He also managed to transmit it to his own penis at the same time.

All he’s ever had is a HSV1 virus on his lips (cold sores).

I got very sick during my first outbreak with blisters all over my vagina, urinal, anal, buttcheeks, thighs etc.

He got small, barely noticable ”pimples” on his dick.

I assume i now have HSV1 on my genitals. I went to the doctors but he didnt take any samples. And when i asked him if it was hsv1 or two, he just said ”i dont know, but 80% of the population has herpes so u dont need to worry”.

And when i asked him if i will forever be contagious and never have unprotected sex again he just laughed and said im only contagious whenever i have outbreaks. But the internet says otherwise. Im starting to think that my doctor didnt have enough info on genital herpes.

Im just kinda confused by everything and what my situation is. But im taking this very seriously and assume that i will never have sex again without the risk of transmitting it.

Now, to my question:

Whats the differance between hsv1 and hsv2?? I’ve tried to google but that just makes me even more confused. He didnt have any visable cold sores on his lips when we had sex and he’s always making sure that hes not having an OB. But he uses alot of spit whenever we have sex both on his own penis and in my vagina etc. Is it even possible to transmit the disease that way?

At one point i thought that maybe i had some hsv without knowing it, but in that case i wouldnt get so sick when i got my outbreak right? I’ve NEVER had an issue before and always making sure i have safe sex and test myself regulary. And then i met him with his hsv1 on lips and then boom
