Why do you lone wolf?

I don't mind lone wolfs, but I can see why others might think they are annoying.

  • They up the enemy presence but aren't present for fights
  • They rarely communicate and when they do it's usually to call someone to a bunker halfway across the map from the team
  • If they don't bring a supply pack resupplying suddenly requires a lot more considderation

I'm convinced most of the people who post about how they can never get a teammate to open a bunker, about how they have to do all the side objectives and sample collecting themselves are lonewolfs of the less self-sufficient kind.

On the flip side:

  • They can be incredibly efficient especially when the team is stuck fighting at a main objective
  • They can sometimes regroup to help out when things get dicey before they split off again
  • They take care of artillery, jammers, AA emplacements, spore spewers and mind scramblers ahead of time or while you're at an objective in range
  • They always take their mandatory 2.7 seconds to admire their surroundings

In my experience the self-sufficient, supply pack wearing badasses who can and will show up to obliderate the factory strider that has your team pinned down before they dissapear mid sentence when you tried to thank them like batman are the most fun kind!

Ultimately my question is what's the appeal? If you're lonewolfing because you have no faith in your team why join one in the first place? If you're more efficient on your own again why not go solo? If you're in need of samples why not host?

At the end of the day I can see why someone would kick you for lonewolfing as a guest allthough the reasons for it are not enough for myself.
