Rat tips?

I normally don’t rat, and even when I do it’s usually unsuccessful. I’m low level and kinda suck so I use that to justify it. I’m just wondering what tips do you guys have to rat? When I camp extracts, nobody takes the extract When I camp a corner, I get circled by somebody who has Call of Duty Ninja perk When I use grenades I get shot before it goes off

Am I just bad, or is it normal? Just gotta play more and get used to the grind?
