Notifications repeating twice?

for the past 1-2 weeks I have been getting notifications TWICE. Ex: I get a notification from gmail and I raise my watch up to look at it, put my watch back down and get a notification really quickly again and I look again, and it’s the same email.. it keeps happening with certain apps and a notifications. has this happened to anyone before? i’ve tried restarting my watch and phone and nothing.
