Our Perfect Day
So I've followed this thread and a few others for awhile but rarely post or comment. I should try and get more involved, but appreciate the insight from the contributors. I just turned 50 and am FI but not quite RE yet. I have been scaling back my hours and spreading around more of my responsibilities at work. Two kids in college and one still in HS. My wife and I have been discussing for a while what our days will look like once RE. It may not be repeatable year round or possibly only a few days at a time, but we both agreed we had the perfect day.
All of our kids are out of town this week, so we decided to head to our lake place during the week, since the weekends are a mob scene. It is completely different and wonderful with maybe 25% of the lake traffic and very few people acting crazy. Only one of our neighbors is here, and we both keep to ourselves mostly with short pleasant interactions. Here is what transpired:
9-10 - Wakeup (We RARELY sleep past 6:30)
10-1 - Slow morning, workout, catch up on work
1-2 - Late lunch on our patio
2-6 - Lounge around on the pier, read, float, take the boat out, talk and continue learning about each other
6-8 Get cleaned up and eat at a local restaurant
8-12 Watch a movie or Netflix, have sex, go to bed
REPEAT
All of this while never wearing anything fancier than shorts/trunks, a t-shirt and flip-flops. I've made many mistakes in my journey, but one thing I really got right was marrying the right person(I hope she feels the same way). She is amazing and through all the ups an downs over 24 years of marriage, we both genuinely enjoy each other's company.
I'm open for advice or criticism as full RE will likely kick in at the end of this year and we hope to avoid as many pitfalls as possible. Thanks for reading.
