Should I level up Inland Empire in a future playthrough or isn't worth it?

In my first (and also my current) playthrough I basically ignored Inland Empire thinking it was kinda useless, but now that I realised that in higher levels Inland Empire changes completely the tone of the game to something a bit more supernatural I wanted to know if investing points in Inland Empire would make the game progression harder since I won't be adding as much points in other more actually useful skills as I did in this playthrough
