Looking to apply for an apprenticeship

I’ve been looking around for answers on the internet and haven’t been able to come up with anything and stumbled upon this subreddit.

Basically as title says, I am currently on esa ( income related) and am in the work group I believe ( I don’t have to go to job centre or anything) If I was to apply for an apprenticeship would I have to tell dwp about it if I was to be accepted when I’m accepted or when the course actually starts. I have been looking at routes to try to get myself back into work. I just don’t want to contact them and the money I get stops before I actually start as I wouldn’t have anything to live on until then. Thank you for your advice
