Chase Sapphire Reserve Card - denied to “identity theft” which is false and incorrect.
I applied for the Chase Sapphire Reserve Card on 2/9/25. I received a letter from Chase on 2/13/25 stating they denied my application for “identity theft” however this is not the case because I applied for it.
I called the Chase Help Line on 2/15/25 and they did not want to verify my identity over the phone and told me to visit a Chase branch.
I visited a Chase location today (2/18/25). The representative also called the Chase Customer Service number, and the representative on the phone stated my application was denied and that I would be receiving a letter in the mail stating the reason why (I already did). The in-person Chase representative was also confused with this response, and told me to call the FTC.
I called the FTC and was unable to speak with a person for advice. Was only by automated voice told to go to identitytheft.org (http://identitytheft.org). I did this but the sole purpose of the website is to report identity theft, which I do not want to do because that is not the case.
I just called the Chase Reconsideration Line tonight (2/18/25) as well and the automated voice just told me they are still working on a final decision for my application and that I should receive something in the mail in 7-10 business days (I already did).
What should I do? I want this credit card but I am not sure how to go about doing this because I feel like I have already tried everything. And this is NOT a case of identity theft.
