People who claim to be emotionally devastated by watching 'Dear Zachary' are just doing so out of a sense of performance
I get it that's a sad documentary and that it's all about unfairness and cruelty but Jesus wept people, get some perspective.
The murder victim (Andrew) is painted as being too good to be true, and the killer (Shirley) is clearly psychotic but that fact seems to escape Andrew entirely.
It's an amateur film, and it shows. None of it has any real link to anyone other than those in the film.
That's just an aside. The effect this film has on most Redditors seems to be so extreme that I find it hard to believe you'd possibly feel that way about anyone you don't know. Responses at random: 'I scream-cried at this one', 'my life will never be the same again', 'it made me question everything about relationships', and so on. Someone else said that they couldn't function for a week after seeing it.
Do me a favour. You're all just trying to out-devastate each other for likes. You're all either making this shit up or you are so emotionally weak I cannot see how you cope with life at all.
