Just finished Citizen Sleeper 2! Some general thoughts (No actual spoilers but tagged for safety).
- This game is way more stressful than the first one because of the contracts, but in a way that makes the calm and relaxing parts stand out even more. But man that first contract is ROUGH if you don't know what you're doing. The dice mechanics can really screw you over if you're not careful. I had to restart the game.
- Took me a little time to warm up to the characters but I think I loved most of them, but most especially Juni. She's my little sister and I would give my life to protect her.
- The classes are cool but I think I would have preferred having an option to mix and match to make my own.
- I absolutely love the switch-up from the first game in having a ship and crew instead of staying on one station. The feeling of recruiting almost every new person I met was delightful, even if I didn't love all of them (I say this as I glare at Yu-Jin), and seeing the ship upgrade with new functions was awesome. It truly felt like a home. I also think it did a pretty good job of giving every crew member a good and interesting arc.
- I do wish the stations had a bit more to do on them, but since it's all so spread out I get why they don't. I probably won't remember any of these places the way I remember The Eye.
- There is a cat. I love cats.
- I think the writing (prose) is a step up from the first game, there are some incredible passages that made me feel things.
- LOVED seeing the returning characters, and seeing how they had changed or what they were doing now compared to the first game.
- The ending is very open-ended, and I really wish there had been an epilogue.
Overall, a solid 10/10 for me, it's on the same level as the first for me. I'll probably have to list the two together when I rank my favourite games haha.
If anyone has finished, or is even still playing, what are your thoughts?
