Chameleon laying on the bottom of cage

She was sleeping at the bottom of her cage so I picked her up to make sure she was ok (first time ever handling her) , when I picked her up her head was up and she seemed to be gripping my finger with strength. Could she be laying her first batch of eggs soon? She’s around the 7 months or so. And her belly looks a bit wide.
