brain damage after resuscitation
hi everyone. my sweet baby mango (female, ~8months) went in to get spayed today. she has had all of her shots and checkups, and ive had her since she was a little tiny baby. they did a bloodwork panel on her before starting the procedure and according to the vet, everything looked fine. however after administering anesthesia, her heart stopped beating on its own for about 2 minutes. they were able to resuscitate her, and now she has brain damage. i just went to talk to the vet/see her. her legs are stuck like shes stretching, and her eyes are stuck rolled back. the vet said she gained some brain function throughout the day. she was meowing, and sticking her tongue out, and responding to her name and flicking her tail. other than that though, she cannot eat or drink. the vet has her overnight and if she does not recover more i will probably have to make the "harder decisions". i just need to know if this has happened to anyone else/if theres a chance of her recovering, even if not fully. the vet said her coworker who has been practicing for 20 years "has hope" but i want to be realistic and hear if this has happened to anyone else and what that was like. i love mango so much and i am beside myself.
