2 year old adult female accepting a kitten?

I'm wondering. How do you know if your cat will accept a new kitten companion or of they will hate it? My female cat whose 2 years old has alot of energy and is quite clingy as well. I feel like getting a kitten for her to play with and have as a companion might help with her boredom and clinginess. I did go stay with my mom last winter when she was just over 1. She has 2 cats both female. 6 years old and 16 years old. She always followed them around, wanted to play but those two were NOT interested and got grouchy with her energy. So it seems like she would be ok....but I dont want it to backfire. What is everyone's thought on this? I Have the opportunity to adopt a kitten in a few weeks and I want to make sure it's a good call.
