Cat proofing Christmas

Any tips for cat proofing Christmas decorations such as Christmas trees? We didn't get one last year to completely avoid it, but I miss decorating. Any tips?

My biggest fear is the cat climbing the tree and it falling over. Any tips on how to anchor the tree to the wall?

I was thinking of using twist ties to secure the ornamenta to the tree branches instead of ornament hooks. To avoid potentially swallowing or biting the ornament hook.
