Saint James School of Medicine (How to be successful, St. Vincent vs Anguilla, Hidden Costs, Transfer Rates)

I’m in the application process for Saint James School of Medicine and I’m strongly considering attending the school. I have a few questions based on some research I’ve done across Reddit and SDN. I though it would be best to start a thread for those who currently have or may have the same kinds of questions.

1)      What does it take to make it at Saint James? Please share any habits/strategies/connections/resources that have helped you along the way.

2)      My reddit “research” (Take this term with a grain of salt) has identified “potential” issues with attending the St. Vincent campus (Potential because of negative comments, obviously I don’t know firsthand I’m not there). Are you able to request a campus and is it possible to request a change? For those that have attended/graduated from the St. Vincent’s campus, is there a reasonable chance to progress from this campus? (Not asking about attrition rates, asking more about your personal opinion shaped by your experience).

3)      How often are there situations where loans were not being dispersed on time? What did you do in these situations? Have you encountered unforeseen charges? How often and how much? How much should a person have in reserve to be prepared for the unexpected?

4)      I read online that the attrition rates are at least slightly overblown due to people transferring out rather than dropping out. Did people transfer out of your class to other Caribbean schools (SGU, Ross, AUC, UMHS)? If so, in what year of study?

Thanks again for any information you can provide!
