Modifying/using AI Generated art for commercial use

Wanted to know if I can use AI generated artwork for commercial purpose? Sometimes (for personal use) I get GPT or any other generator to generate a sample and then I modify it if needed. Would doing something like that for a commercial purpose be illegal?
