Help converting .dwg/.dxf file (3d model) to Step

I'm looking to get a prototype made and my manufacturer asks for a Step file only.
I'm using AutoCad for 3D modeling but it doesn't export to that format.

What is the easiest way to convert a .dwg or .dxf file to .step? I don't want to pay for another software just for that...
