Rant: CFA Level 1 isn’t as long a commitment as people take it to be.

This post is basically for people not working full time and registered for this November 2024 attempt way back before May 2024, and the occasional “Are X number of months enough to pass Level 1?” redditor.

I registered for the Level 1 in the middle of August and hadn’t started studying till then. I only started spending about two hours a day from the middle of September. Essentially, I wouldn’t have spent longer than 150 hours at all on this.

I have passed today with my score touching 90th percentile. Please note that I am not a prodigy by any means. In fact, I dropped out of my Mechanical Engineering degree last year because I was unable to be in schedule to attend my lectures and live by myself, basically do my chores together. I have no background in finance except that I had economics in highschool.

If I can do it this way, you can too. Ps: the premium practice pack was pretty much all that I needed and the 7 mock exams on CFAI.

Hope this post provides clarity to everyone reading. AMA!
