Interested in exploring Buddhism

Hello all! A long time ago, (early 2000s) an elderly lady invited me to go with her to a Buddhist Temple to experience what it was like. I enjoyed it, but I was younger, dumber, and life does what it does best. I didn’t go back, got married, had kids, etc.

Recently, I’ve been contemplating exploring Buddhism again. Looking through Google listed a bunch of places (I’m in the Denver, Colorado area). Seemed like a lot of these wanted money for memberships, etc. most reviews were good, plenty seemed like they weren’t real reviews, and there were the occasional bad reviews.

I wanted to see what people here recommended, what their experiences was like, and maybe any advice on where to start. Thanks!
