"BlueSky is for the left wing" comments

I've seen people constantly say that X is for the right wing and BlueSky is for the left wing, but I think it's more nuanced than that.

I think it's more like - X is all about maximising engagement no matter what, usually means expending all your energy getting fired up about a particular topic, which is often about right wing politics. It's addictive but also mentally exhausting.

The culture on BlueSky is starkly different - I don't think it's heavily left wing, but rather it is all about trying to tailor your feed to exactly what you want, with a lot of emphasis placed on blocking keywords you don't want to see, or selecting your exact interests etc. I think this has the effect of making it less addictive, but also not mentally taxing - you might even find yourself feeling more relaxed after using it. That's certainly the case for me, I just see jokes, comics, animal pics etc...

For those that want the ragey political debates that's definitely still our there on BlueSky, but for those people like me (and probably most other elder millennials tbh who have been online for 25+ years now) we just want a place to relax, read some funny posts, still feel connected to the world but in a positive way where people act with civility. BlueSky does that perfectly.
