Help with picking and guitar recs?

Hello! Not sure if this belongs here, but I was hoping to get some advice! I’ve been playing guitar for a very long time but I’m just starting to get into bluegrass. Long story short, I’m a lefty who has always played right-handed. I’ve used a pick for strumming, but only ever used my fingers for picking. I’m trying to start bluegrass with a clean mental slate and Im looking for some advice on how to improve my cross picking and flat picking with an actual pick. It’s funny, I consider myself a decent fingerpicker, but I’m like a brand new guitarist when it comes to holding a pick and trying to pluck individual strings. It’s frustrating but rewarding. Any good books, videos, general recs? I’ve been trying to either follow basic fiddle tune tabs or playing by ear and playing them very slowly for now.

Also, I have a decent solid wood Guild but it’s an OM and I hope to pick up a dreadnought by the end of the year. Any suggestions for a good one around $1k? I’ve been looking at used Yamaha FG5s, Martin D15s, etc. I’d like to get something I can grow into. Thanks, friends!
