Why are people able to say heartless things to victims of SA?
This is not just his story. A young girl who was sexually assaulted by someone she met on social media posted the perpetrator's Twitter account to raise awareness, only to be told by one woman, "You're the one at fault," and by a man, "Rape? Did you enjoy it?"
In Japan, girls who tweet about their experiences of sexual assault are often insulted, with many being called "ugly." One girl, who was called "ugly" after sharing her experience, replied, "Why are you calling me ugly now? My appearance has nothing to do with the SA."
However, the people who saw that tweet said, "I knew it. You’re just waiting for replies saying you're not ugly, aren't you? With that attitude, your claim of sexual assault must be a lie."
She’s simply asking them to stop insulting her looks because her appearance has nothing to do with her experience of sexual assault. Why can’t they understand that?
