Material for a snow sled

What type of hardwood would you use for a snow sled, and how would you treat the wood to make it moisture-resistant? Stinky oils are not good for my lungs; so I was hoping some cureable 2-part epoxy would work (cure otdoors and forget).

A google search shows that this fancy Swiss maker uses ash -- what do you think? Oak, I think, would be too heavy and prob not as weather-resistant? I won't be doing any sophisticated steam bending or cuvy shapes like they do.

As kids, we would make sleds out of old wooden nordic skis and some scraps of plywood lying around, but those did not last for more than a season or two.
