A perspective on 566's $600K "steal"

So the community is pretty upset at 566 for taking over $600k in the last game, and I can totally see why. When the episode aired, I was furious at him for leaving so little for the others.

However, here's a different perspective on the "game":

The total prize pool for the event is $5M. Add the $1M from the last game, and that brings it to $6M. With 10 contestants remaining (assuming no wild card entries), each player's expected value sits at $600K.

What 566 essentially did was claim his share upfront and self-eliminate—since he's almost certainly getting voted off next game. By doing so, he increased the odds for the remaining players to win the grand prize, thereby raising their expected value.

That being said, I still think 566 is a total POS, not just for his selfish play but for his weak justification. And let’s not forget—he took an extra $35K on top of that.

I'm curious about the community's thoughts on this perspective. If I was there and I was burdened with debts, I might have taken my share and opted to self-eliminate just to play it safe.
