Any tips on finding band mates?

So I’m at the point where I feel like I’m ready to play with other people, the problem though is that I’m in a town with roughly 65,000 people. So there isn’t a lot of spaces where I would know to go to maybe find band mates. Especially because I’m living in a community that is heavily focused on country (I have no interest in playing country music) any tips or do I just need to get lucky to find someone
