Bambu not living up to warranty claims
X1C dead on arrival, support team are not helpful at all. Asking for videos and pictures displaying error messages, but since the X1C does not turn on at all there is nothing to photograph. I'm not making any progress with them at all, seems like they are trying to avoid replacing the unit. They don't seem to know about their own warranty policy.
Has anyone had success getting a malfunctioning device replaced?
Edit: SirWill3D has asked me to clarify that the printer managed to do one full test print (3DBenchy) before dying during the second test print, which technically means that it was not Dead On Arrival but rather Dead After An Hour.
I have on my hand asked Bambu Lab to update their warranty statement on https://bambulab.com/en/policies/warranty to reflect that they reserve the right to ignore return requests within 14 days of purchase if the printer suffers critical failure and send replacement parts instead, which may be fully acceptable for some but not for everyone.
UPDATE May 1st: Received replacement part. Bambu Lab sent me an AP board for a P1P and set the support ticket to "Resolved".
UPDATE May 8th: I have received and installed the new AP board. The instructions at https://wiki.bambulab.com/en/x1/maintenance/replace-ap-board mentions a QR code that should be on a sticker on the AP board, but it was missing. The device now boots but initial calibration fails, which might be due to the fact that the AP board has not been "bound", whatever that means. Firmware version is 00.00.00.00 according to settings. I am again struggling with support. Sent them the QR code displayed on the LCD on first boot, they said it was wrong and asked me to send it again like it would somehow magically change... I'm sure they are doing their very best but Bambu support is a complete clusterfuck. They would reduce their workload massively if they just bothered to actually try to understand what the customer is telling them.
UPDATE May 10th: Still no go, support is asking for photos of QR codes and serial numbers but don't seem to know what to make of the information I'm sending them. I think they have managed to send me an AP board without firmware, which makes it unusable. Soon three weeks since the X1C was delivered and I've decided to send it back. I'm sure it's a good machine if it's working but they are clearly having major issues scaling up production and their shitty support breaks the deal for me.
UPDATE 2 May 10th: After bothering the shit out of u/SirWill3D for days he pointed out that the firmware on this AP board is ancient (I bet that's a good thing!) and where to find the serial number that should have been on the missing QR sticker. I have passed the information on to first line support which technically makes me 2nd line support at Bambu Labs.
UPDATE May 11th: Support says that the new AP board they sent me is kaputt and will need to be replaced. They are also offering me to return the printer for a refund and that is what I will do.
THE END (?)
