Did anybody else find the game to be easier than expected?

For context I’ve never actually played a game of D&D but I’ve watched just about every episode of Critical Role and know a bit about the game and class mechanics. This is my favorite game of all time but I was pretty surprised that I was able to kinda just brute force my way through just about every encounter on tactician without really coming close to a TPK, especially after seeing a few post about the game being so hard on the easiest difficulty. I don’t particularly think I picked any easy mode classes either but for anyone who wants to know my party is:

Me Valli’an, a half-drow assassin rouge/vengeance paladin (cough cough vax) which I kinda waste the “assassin” part as I forget to sneak around a lot.

Shadowheart as a trickster cleric (which I didn’t particularly like using) which I switched to life later after finding a little hope wink wink

Gale as a divination wizard which I don’t exactly play well since I forget to save my portents for dodging early strikes instead of using them on like control spells.

And lastly Karlach as a berserker which I play very brain dead and just smack stuff until it dies.

Now I will clarify that I maybe use the lord and savior ability luck of the far realms…..on my rouge….with sneak and maybe a lil divine smite…ok I really just like to see the big numbers on the screen and a health bar go poof. The only fights I’ve struggled with were pretty much every gith fight and a fight with a bloody red monster because it kept targeting gale every though he would teleport every time.
