Are shift bindnings worth it?
I'm looking to get into backcountry skiing and I'm trying to decide if shift bindings are worth it seeing as I'm buying an entirely new setup.
I've spent my entire life skiing in resorts, mainly in Sweden and in the Alps. I'm spending about a month in Chamonix this year and then 9 days of skiing in Norway and Sweden. The people I'm skiing with all are avid backcountry skiers, and I've only done it once or twice.
Is it more worth for me to rent a backcountry setup for the two or three days that we are touring and learn the ropes? Or is it better to just go all in with a pair of shift bindnings? I've read that they get damaged more easily and their way more expensive than normal resort bindnings.
The rest of the setup is Fischer Ranger (102) and Atomic Prime XTD
Thanks in advance!
