NW HEB weird curbie situation
Ugh. Just posting to get this out there, and I kinda can't believe I am since I'm pretty skeptical of those "someone tried to traffic my toddler at Target!!" stories.
My teen kid is a curbie at an HEB store in nw austin. Last night he was working and struck up a convo with a customer, who then told him he "had a young face" and asked if he'd be willing to help this guy with his work , but he needed to keep it a secret and not talk about it to anyone. Went on to say he was a "government agent" who caught child predators and the work would be my kid taking pictures of himself to send to this guy to use. He showed my kid some kind of badge, which was enough for my (sweet, naive) kid to give the guy his phone number, because he was scared he'd get in trouble with the law if he didn't.
Guy sent several follow up texts to him, all basically right out of a groomers handbook. So fucking creepy. I notified the store since I have his phone number and they are all over it.
Edit: We also did notify the police.
So beware, I guess, and if you have teens in that area and/or who work with the public, remind them to never give their phone number to anyone.
