To pay or not to pay tolls?
Wanted to expand on the topic from this thread a few days ago.
There seems to be conflicting reports on if toll debt can be tied to the owner of the vehicle.
Summarize:
Don't pay tolls. There are no consequences for not paying. The debt cannot be sent to collections because the debt cannot be legally identified as owner of the vehicle's debt.
However /u/Yooooooooooo0o shared:
This guy is very wrong about his assumptions on toll charges. By law, the registered owner of the vehicle is responsible for the toll. They dont have to prove it's "yours". They can hold you accountable if you own the car, even if you weren't driving.
(b) In the event of nonpayment of the proper toll as required by Subsection (a), on issuance of a written notice of nonpayment, the registered owner of the nonpaying vehicle is liable for the payment of both the proper toll and an administrative fee.
Curious on what everyone else's experience and feedback is.
