Neighbouring property boarded up.

FHB here, we just bought a property which had a three storey block of units next door with 15 units. The whole block next door had been sold 14 months ago and recently renovated which included internal and external works. We thought this is quite good as the new owners were willing to spend money improving the property.

A week before moving in we did our final inspection and noticed the whole building had been boarded. We thought this was weird but presumed further renovation works. Upon the day of moving in we noticed squatters had moved in also into two of the units. We tried to get them moved on but as we weren't the property owners who complained the police couldn't evict. The first night wasn't great as I thought someone was breaking into our home but it was just one of the squatters doing some "internal renovations".

We have since found out that the whole block is social housing which would have affected our reasoning for buying next door to it especially as we have two young girls aged 3 and 6. Should this have been notified to us before purchase or do we just suck it up?
