Is dowry system still prevalent?

Same as title. Answer the question STRICTLY with regard to your experience in your family or around you and please avoid giving vague answers like it's being regulated and all that because I personally know no one around me who got married without giving or taking dowry.

Asking this question because lately I am seeing posts which addresses the impacts of alimony and ignores dowry altogether as if 90% of Indians refuse it.
