Gloves off response to Trump Tariffs

A Canadian response to the Trump trade war needs to be immediate and unwavering. Federal Parliament needs to reconvene to implement the following volley before an election.

Canada should selectively restrict or heavily tax exports of critical goods the U.S. depends on. Unrefined Canadian crude should immediately be subject to an export tariff at high rates that are not fixed, but change daily via order in Council. Create an immediate and painful supply shock that markets cannot predict. US trade restrictions on potash and export tariffs on uranium and Quebec aluminum.

Access to Canadian rail and port infrastructure for non-canadian US bound or US sourced goods needs to be made a lot more difficult.

Import tariffs on strategic US goods. Apply economic pressure on swing states like Michigan (auto industry) and Wisconsin (agriculture).

Restrictions on defense spending on US goods.

Public statements that Canada is reconsidering its 5G sanctions policy.

Study on the elimination of USD payable Canadian sovereign bonds.
