Is the dating culture in Canada different or similar to the United States?

So I am American but I was born in Italy and lived in different countries. So I am familiar with some other countries dating cultures. However I’ve never been to Canada. I have met a few Canadian women and I went to high school with one. I’ve noticed Canadian women are very kind compared to American women. In the United States it’s always 50/50 debates, hatred between men and women on social media. There’s always arguments whether the man should pay the bill on the first date or should they split it. So my question is, is it like this in Canada? Do you guys have these gender roles and 50/50 debates in Canada? Are men expected to pay the first bill in Canada or do you guys split the bill? Is the dating culture different in Canada or is it like the dating culture in the United States?
