Barcelona - what other countries/cities to visit near by

I could use some advice, for our family of 4 (two adults, one 17yold and one 16y old) for our 10-day visit at the end of May, June, or July:

-         What other cities or countries do you all recommend nearby to visit

-         Best affordable way to visit those countries

-         We are planning to stay 3 nights in Barcelona so we will have 7 more nights
