Food Budget on Grant Proposal

I am applying for a grant to go process samples for my thesis at UC Irvine. I need to add food costs to my budget but I am not sure how much is reasonable to ask for per day. I was thinking $30-40 per day but I don't know if that is reasonable, any suggestions?
